Canada Disability Savings Grant
- To encourage long term savings through an RDSP, the Government of Canada created the Canada Disability Savings Grant (CDSG). A beneficiary may be eligible to receive grant up until December 31st of the year in which they turn 49 years of age. The amount of the grant depends on both the beneficiary’s family net income and the amount of each plan deposit.
- Contributions to an RDSP may qualify for payments from the CDSG, up to a lifetime maximum of $70,000 per beneficiary. The maximum annual CDSG is $3,500 for families with net incomes of less than or equal to $78,130. The maximum annual CDSG is $1,000 for families with net income greater than $78,130). The maximum lifetime CDSG available per beneficiary is $70,000. Please refer to the following chart for further information.
- When the beneficiary turns 18 years of age, CDSG payments are based on their net annual income.
